Wes Welker Suffers Neck Injury
DETROIT (AP) – New England wide receiver Wes Welker has left Saturday night’s preseason game at Detroit with a neck injury.
Welker’s return is questionable. It was not immediately clear when he hurt himself. The injury was announced early in the third quarter with the Patriots trailing 27-10.
Welker was New England’s leading receiver last season, catching 86 passes for 848 yards. He’s part of a veteran group of receivers with the Patriots that also includes Deion Branch and Chad Ochocinco. Welker caught a 44-yard touchdown pass from Tom Brady in the second quarter Saturday for New England’s first touchdown of the game.
