Manning held scoreless in preseason debut
HOUSTON, TX (The Spread) – Peyton Manning made his preseason debut versus the Texans on Saturday night and was held off the scoreboard by Houston’s defense.
Manning led the Broncos on four drives, none of which resulted in points. After each of the drives ended in punts, Manning was replaced by backup Brock Osweiler early in the second quarter.
“He operated fine,” new Denver coach Gary Kubiak said of Manning. “We didn’t help him in a couple situations, on third down. We had a couple of big drops on the three or four series when he played. … I thought he was sharp in running the group and running the no-huddle for a first time out.”
Manning was 8-of-14 for 52 yards as the Broncos beat the Texans 14-10.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book GT Bets, the Broncos are 15/1 to win the Super Bowl. Those odds are better than any team in the NFL outside of the Packers (5/1), Seahawks (13/2), Colts (17/2) and Patriots (17/2).
