Philadelphia Eagles 2016 NFL Season Win Total Prediction

Eagles 2016 Win Total Prediction

After finishing 7-9 last season, will the new-look Philadelphia Eagles improve upon that record in 2016?

After finishing in second place in the NFC East last year with just seven wins, the Eagles parted with head coach Chip Kelly and replaced him with Andy Reid’s former offensive coordinator Doug Pederson.  The one-time Dolphins, Packers, Eagles and Browns quarterback was also Philadelphia’s offensive quality control coordinator under Reid in 2009 and 2010, as well as the team’s QB coach in 2011-2012 before moving with Reid to Kansas City to coordiator the Chiefs offense in 2013.

Pederson isn’t the only new face to come to Philly this offseason. The team also traded up to the No. 2 overall pick in April’s draft to snag North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz. The rookie is unlikely to start this season after the Eagles re-signed Sam Bradford and added former Chief Chase Daniel in free agency.

Speaking of free agency, the Eagles also signed underrated free safety Rodney McLeod to play opposite Malcolm Jenkins in a revamped secondary. The team traded free agent bust Byron Maxwell, as well as linebacker Kiko Alonso and its first-round pick to the Dolphins in exchange for Miami’s first-round pick. Mychal Kendricks, Jordan Hicks and Nigel Bradham will be the linebackers, while Fletcher Cox, Connor Barwin, Bennie Logan and Vinny Curry will start up front.

While the Eagles should have more stability under Pederson than they did under the mad scientist Kelly, it’s unlikely that they’ll win more than seven games this season. Bradford is a walking injury and running back Ryan Mathews will start training camp on the NFI list. The Eagles certainly have sporadic talent, but no team quarterbacked by Bradford has ever finished the season with a winning record.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Eagles’ over/under total has been set at 7.5 for 2016. Take the under.
