Steelers sign Vick
PITTSBURGH, PA (TheSpread) – With their backup quarterback injured, the Pittsburgh Steelers are turning to Michael Vick to be their QB if Ben Roethlisberger gets injured.
The Steelers saw backup Bruce Gradkowski dislocate his finger in last weekend’s preseason game with the Green Bay Packers. His injury is expected to put him on the shelf for up to a month, leaving Landry Jones as the only other QB option. Knowing that, the Steelers signed Vick to a 1-year deal.
“There’s not a throw on the field he can’t make from an arm strength standpoint,” Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin said about Vick. “He’s a very experienced guy at what he does at this point in his career and the mobility is still unique even at 35.”
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Steelers are currently listed with 20/1 odds to win Super Bowl 50 this upcoming season. The Packers are currently 5/1 favorites while the Seahawks are listed with 6/1 odds.
Vick spent last season with the Jets, throwing for 604 yards and three touchdowns while completing just 51.9 percent of his passes. He also rushed for 153 yards while serving as backup to Geno Smith. For his 12-year career, Vick has thrown for 22,093 yards and 131 touchdowns with 91 interceptions. His career completion percentage is 56.1 and he has rushed for 6,010 yards and 36 touchdowns in his 12 seasons as well.
