Saints-Vikings Line Climbs

Even though public bettors are siding with the New Orleans Saints for their matchup in Minnesota on Sunday, the point spread continues to climb in favor of the Vikings.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the point spread for Sunday’s Divisional Round matchup between the Saints and Vikings has climbed to 5 in favor of Minnesota. New Orleans opened as a 3.5-point road underdog but despite public backing, the Saints are now an even bigger dog. The total, meanwhile, sits at 46.5.

Bet NFL Divisional Round Games

As previously mentioned, the public still loves the Saints to cover as an underdog. As of Thursday afternoon, 64% of public bettors are on New Orleans but 64% of the money is on Minnesota. That means we have a “Pros vs. Joes” game, with the wiseguys on the Vikings but public bettors are on the Saints.

The favorite has been a good play in this series, cashing in all four of the last four meetings between these two teams. That said, the Saints are 13-5 against the spread in their last 18 road games, are 8-1 against the number in their last nine road games versus a team with a winning home record and are 4-1 at the betting window in their last five games played in January. They haven’t been good overall, however, failing to cover in four of their last five games, including last week when they were a 6.5-point home favorite versus the Panthers.

The Vikings, meanwhile, are 11-1 against the spread in their last 12 home games versus a team with a winning road record and have covered in five of their last six playoff games. They’re also 42-17 at the betting window in their last 59 games overall and 34-16-1 against the spread in their last 51 home games.

As far as the total, the over is 5-0-1 in the last six meetings between these two teams in Minnesota and has cashed in seven of the last nine meetings overall.
