Even with Newton out and Derek Anderson starting under center for the defending NFC champions, 54% of public bettors are currently laying the points with Carolina.

Newton exited the Panthers’ loss to the Falcons last Sunday in the second half after suffering from concussion symptoms. He has already been ruled out for tonight’s game, as has left tackle Michael Oher (concussion), cornerback James Bradberry (toe) and running back Jonathan Stewart (hamstring). Defensive end Charles Johnson is also questionable, while linebacker Thomas Davis and receiver Devin Funchess are probable.
