Public Bettors Fading Patriots Again
The Kansas City Chiefs remain small favorites ahead of Sunday’s AFC Championship Game matchup with the New England Patriots and as of late Thursday, public bettors continue to fade Tom Brady and Co.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, Kansas City opened as 2.5-point home favorites to beat New England on Sunday but the line jumped to 3 soon after the line was released and that’s where the number has stayed. As for the total, it opened as high as 59.5 at some online shops but the number has been bet all the way down to 55.5 with temperatures expected to be near freezing for Sunday’s game.
Public bettors faded the Patriots last Sunday as a 4-point home favorite versus the Chargers and even though New England rolled in that game, bettors are fading the defending AFC champs again this week. As of late Thursday night, 55% of the betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Chiefs while 52% of the money wagered on the game is also on Kansas City.
Most bettors apparently are buying into the cold weather impacting these offenses because 52% of the betting tickets and 57% of the money wagered on the over/under is currently on the under. That said, the over is 4-0 in the last four meetings between these two teams while the Patriots are just 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games versus the Chiefs.
