Public Bettors Love Patriots Tonight

Here’s a shocker: Public bettors are siding with Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in a playoff game. The Pats will host the Titans at 8:15 p.m. ET tonight.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Titans are a 13.5-point road underdog to beat the Patriots while the over/under currently sits at 48 points. While the point spread hasn’t budged off the original number of 13.5, the total opened at 47 but has climbed a full point to 48.

Bet NFL Divisional Round Games

As of Saturday afternoon, 70% of public bettors are siding with the Patriots and 63% of the money for this game is also on New England minus the points. Of the four games played in the Divisional Round, the Patriots are the biggest public favorite.

It’s not surprising that public bettors are siding with the host Patriots even though they’re laying double-digit points in tonight’s game. The Titans pulled off the upset last weekend in Kansas City but they needed a lot to go right in the second half, including Marcus Mariota throwing a touchdown pass to himself. The Chiefs also lost tight end Travis Kelce to a concussion right before halftime and had a call go against them that could have resulted in a fumble recovery on a Mariota sack. (Oh, and Andy Reid and Matt Nagy also forgot they employed Kareem Hunt.)

The Titans haven’t had much success against the Patriots, either. They’re 0-4 at the betting window in their last four games against the Pats and are 1-4 against the number in their last five trips to New England. The favorite has also covered the spread in five of the last seven meetings between these two teams.
