Las Vegas Raiders DFS Spin
Las Vegas star wide receiver Davante Adams nearly got shut out in the Raiders’ 24-0 loss to the Saints last weekend as he only recorded 1 catch for 3 yards. I don’t see any way he has another down week, especially against a middling Jaguars pass defense that ranks 16th in the NFL in opponent yards per pass attempt.
If you need a running back, the Raiders’ Josh Jacobs has been producing consistently all year. Jacobs ranks 5th in the NFL with 676 rushing yards in 7 games played. Jacobs is averaging 5.6 yards per carry and 96.6 rushing yards per game this season. Using him in DFS does come with considerable risk, as Jacksonville ranks 4th in opponent yards per rush attempt, but Josh Jacobs may be good enough to overcome a less-than-ideal matchup.
Jacksonville Jaguars DFS Spin
DFS players may be hesitant to use any Jaguars pass catcher this weekend because of Jacksonville quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Lawrence has tossed 5 interceptions and taken 10 sacks in Jacksonville’s last 5 games. All of those contests have been Jacksonville losses. But lucky for Lawrence and the Jaguars, the Raiders rank last in the NFL in both takeaways per game and sacks per game. You can safely deploy Jacksonville wide receivers Christian Kirk and Zay Jones as well as tight end Evan Engram this week.
I’d also consider using Jaguars running back Travis Etienne Jr. Etienne has posted back-to-back games with at least 110 rushing yards and a touchdown and should get the lion’s share of the work now that running back James Robinson has been traded to the Jets.
Raiders vs. Jaguars Betting Trends
Las Vegas is 0-7 ATS in their last 7 road games against a team with a losing home record.
Las Vegas is 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games after gaining less than 250 total yards in their previous game.
Las Vegas is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games against Jacksonville.
Jacksonville is 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 games in Week 9.
Raiders vs. Jaguars Prediction:
Both of these teams rank near the bottom of the AFC and are extremely likely to miss the playoffs. The problems for the Raiders seem worse than the Jaguars, as Las Vegas ranks 20th in average scoring margin (-1.6) while Jacksonville is tied for 10th (+1.8). There’s also the matter of geography. The Raiders are a west coast team flying east to play in an early game. They will be at a body clock disadvantage for this contest. It’s because of those reasons that I’ll fade the public and take the Jacksonville Jaguars as home underdogs.
