Rams banged up at running back
The Rams struggled offensively in the preseason and could be without two running backs when they face the Seahawks in Week 1 on Sunday.
Even though Todd Gurley has shed his yellow no-contact beanie in practice, Rams coach Jeff Fisher confirmed over the weekend that the team’s first-round pick will not play against the Seahawks on Sunday. Gurley continues to rehab from a torn ACL suffered last November while at Georgia and says there’s “nothing I can’t do” in terms of on-field actively. St. Louis continues to take things slow with their future feature back.
In related news, Fisher said Tre Mason will likely be a game-time decision for Sunday’s opener. Mason was injured in the Rams’ third preseason game with a “mild” hamstring strain and didn’t play in the team’s fourth exhibition game versus the Chiefs. Benny Cunningham would start if Mason isn’t able to play versus Seattle.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book GT Bets, the Seahawks are currently 3.5-point road favorites versus the Rams for Sunday’s 1:00PM ET kickoff. The total is sitting at 42.5 points, which might be a tad high considering both teams struggled offensively in preseason.
