Los Angeles Rams

Since the Rams lost to the Eagles 37-20 earlier in the season, they have lost just one game. And that game was the last one of the season in which they weren’t playing any starters. In the Wild Card round Monday night, Los Angeles beat the Vikings 27-9. Matthew Stafford completed 19 of 27 pass attempts for 209 yards and 2 touchdowns in that matchup. Kyren Williams managed 76 yards on 16 carries. Tyler Higbee led the team in receiving with 58 yards before he left the game hurt. Puka Nacua had 5 receptions for 44 yards and Cooper Kupp added one reception of 29 yards. The big story of the game was the defense. They finished with 9 sacks and 10 tackles for loss against the Vikings. They also had an interception and a fumble recovery that was returned for a touchdown.

Tyler Higbee left the game in the second quarter with a chest injury that required him to go to the hospital. He has since been cleared and no longer carries an injury designation heading into Sunday. Blind side blocker Alaric Jackson is listed as questionable with a chest injury. He did not practice on Wednesday or Friday but logged a full participation on Thursday.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles had been dominant all season, even with their starting quarterback Jalen Hurts missing some time with a concussion. Hurts made his return to the field in the 22-10 victory over the Packers in the Wild Card round last week. The opening kickoff resulted in a fumble that was recovered by the Eagles and they were able to get a huge touchdown out of it. Jalen Hurts didn’t look very good for about 90% of this game. He finished completing 13 of 21 pass attempts for 131 yards and 2 touchdowns. Saquon Barkley rushed for 119 yards on 25 carries. DeVonta Smith had 4 receptions for 55 yards and Dallas Goedert had 4 receptions for 47 yards and a touchdown. A.J. Brown had as many books read on the sideline as he did receptions in the game. After the opening touchdown, the Eagles made a field goal and kicked 5 punts the next 6 possessions. As bad as the Eagles offense looked, the defense played great, finishing the game with 3 interceptions and 2 sacks. They did suffer a tough loss at linebacker. Nakobe Dean is out for the rest of the season with a leg injury.

Los Angeles is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games

The UNDER is 4-1 in Los Angeles’ last 5 games

Philadelphia is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games

The UNDER is 7-3 in Philadelphia’s last 10 games

Rams vs. Eagles Prediction:

The weather seems to be trending towards a snow game on Sunday afternoon however the winds seem to be staying pretty light in the 5-10 mph range. That said, I like the Eagles to cover the spread on their home field. I can’t go against this Eagles defense and run game. Philly has the top ranked defense in the league, allowing just 17.4 points per game. They have the best passing defense allowing 5.5 yards per pass attempt and are 6th in takeaways per game. They allowed 20 points to the Rams earlier this season but LA scored a garbage time touchdown with a minute left. On the other side, the run game from the Eagles can’t be stopped. Saquon Barkley has rushed for over 100 yards in 7 of the last 8 games, including 255 yards against this Rams defense. The Rams rank 26th in yards per rush attempt allowed.

Jalen Hurts offers another threat on the ground. On top of that, we saw Hurts step up earlier in the season when he needed to. He hadn’t been playing well heading into the matchup against the Steelers and everyone was talking about how bad of a QB he is. Then he went out and completed 25 of 32 pass attempts for 290 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 45 yards and a touchdown in the 27-13 win. Hurts didn’t look good against the Packers. I think he’ll bounce back and come out strong in this one. He’s led this team to a Super Bowl appearance before. He knows what it takes.

Rams vs. Eagles Prediction: Eagles -6
