Ravens favored on the road vs. banged-up Texans this Sunday on CBS

Ravens favored vs. injured Texans

HOUSTON, TX (The Spread) – The Baltimore Ravens currently have themselves in the playoffs, but they need a win over the Houston Texans on Sunday to hold onto their spot.

View Current NFL Odds

Baltimore is currently 9-5 on the season and tied with Pittsburgh for the two Wild Card playoff spots. Both teams are ½ a game behind Cincinnati for first in the AFC North. The Ravens are coming off a 20-12 win over Jacksonville last week and they have won four of their last five games. Baltimore is 7-6-1 against the spread this season, but just 3-4 ATS in their last 7 games. They are also just 1-3 ATS in their last four games as a favorite.

Houston is coming off a 17-10 loss to the Colts last week. The Texans snapped a two-game winning streak in that loss and are now 7-7 on the season. Houston is 8-5-1 against the spread on the year and 3-1-1 ATS in its last 5 games. Houston is 2-3-1 ATS in its last 6 games as the underdog.

The oddsmakers like the Ravens on the road for this game, as oddsmakers from BetDSI have given the Ravens odds of -5 points against the Texans on Sunday at 1PM ET on CBS. The over/under total for the game has been set at 41.5 points (View Matchup). The home team has won four straight in this series, and the Texans have covered the spread in two of the last three meetings.

The big issue for Houston is this game will be at quarter. After the Texans already lost Ryan Mallett for the season with a chest injury, Ryan Fitzpatrick suffered a broken leg last week. Tom Savage filled in for Fitzpatrick and he is 10 of 19 passing for 127 yards and one interception, but he has a knee injury that has him sidelined. Houston signed Case Keenum from the Rams practice squad to help address the issue. Baltimore comes into this game with the 30th-ranked passing defense, as the Ravens are giving up 259.9 yards per game in the air.
