Rob Gronkowski, Jimmy Graham & Ben Roethlisberger all injured on Sunday

Injuries pile up in the NFL on Sunday

It was yet another horrible day for injuries in the NFL, as three key starters fell for their respective teams.

The worst injury came on Sunday afternoon as Seahawks tight end Jimmy Graham tore his right patellar tendon in a 39-30 win over the Steelers. The injury is the same one that has wrecked Giants’ receiver Victor Cruz’s career, so Graham has a long road back to recovery. He was acquired by Seattle this offseason in exchange for a first-round pick and center Max Unger.

Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was injured in that same game, as he suffered concussion-like symptoms that required him to miss the Steelers’ final offensive possession. Roethlisberger had rallied Pittsburgh to a late field goal, but self-reported his symptoms to the training staff and was pulled out of the game in favor of Landry Jones. The early indication is that Big Ben should play against the Colts on Sunday.

In the Broncos’ upset victory over the Patriots on Sunday night, New England tight end Rob Gronkowski was carted off the field after suffering a hit to the knee in the second half. ESPN’s Dianna Marie Russini reports that Gronkowski’s injury is “not as bad as it looked,” but it’s uncertain at this point whether or not he’ll suit up for the Patriots’ game this Sunday against the Eagles.
