Russell Wilson signs contract extension

SEATTLE, WA (The Spread) – The Russell Wilson contract dilemma is a dilemma no more, as the Seahawks signed their quarterback to a contract extension on Friday.

Wilson and the Seahawks agreed on a four-year, $87.6 million contract extension that includes $60 million in guaranteed money. Wilson’s $21.9 million annual average makes him the second-highest paid quarterback in the league behind Aaron Rodgers, who earns $22 million per season. That said, the guaranteed money in Wilson’s contract is $6 million more than what Rodgers netted from the deal he signed in 2013 (seven years, $130.75 million and $54 million guaranteed).

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Seahawks are 13/2 to win the 2016 Super Bowl, which puts them behind the favored Packers (6/1) in terms of the odds. Seattle is also 7/2 to win the NFC Conference Championship this year and is -225 favorites to win the NFC West Division.
