New Orleans Saints DFS Spin
Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas has been out since early November and will likely miss the rest of the season with a toe injury. Saints wide receivers Chris Olave and Jarvis Landry were both held out of practice on Wednesday with hamstring and ankle ailments respectively. They’ve both been officially ruled out for Saturday’s contest.
If you’re looking for a high-floor option, consider Saints’ running back Alvin Kamara. Kamara leads the Saints with 641 rushing yards and will be facing a Browns defense that ranks 29th in the NFL in opponent yards per rushing attempt.
For a few sleeper options at pass catcher, consider New Orleans wide receiver Rashid Shaheed and Saints tight end Juwan Johnson. Both players racked up over 65 receiving yards and found the end zone against Atlanta last weekend and they could see some more targets due to the Saints being shorthanded on Saturday.
Cleveland Browns DFS Spin
Browns tight end David Njoku has seemingly been on the injury report every week this season and but he should be good to go for Saturday’s contest this weekend. The more concerning injury status for Cleveland is star running back Nick Chubb. Chubb missed practice Wednesday with a foot ailment, but the Browns are optimistic that he’ll be able to play on Saturday. Nick Chubb is third in the NFL with 1,252 rushing yards and tied for third in the league with 12 rushing touchdowns. There might be some risk there, but Chubb could certainly help DFS owners this weekend.
If you’re looking for a pass catcher, you could do worse than Cleveland wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones. Peoples-Jones caught a touchdown last week and recorded 114 receiving yards the week before that. He seems to have a connection with Cleveland quarterback Deshaun Watson that he may not have had with Jacoby Brissett which should slightly raise his ceiling for this week and the rest of the season.
Saints vs. Browns Betting Trends
New Orleans is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games on grass.
New Orleans is 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games following an outright win.
Cleveland is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 Saturday games.
Cleveland is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games in December.
Saints vs. Browns Prediction:
The Saints might have beaten Atlanta last week, and they might still be mathematically alive for the NFC South division title, but I don’t think either of those facts means much. The Saints have 0 wins outdoors all season, and they are 1-5 against the spread as a road team, which is the worst mark in the league. If that wasn’t enough, the Saints rank 28th in the NFL in yards per point margin and 31st in the NFL in average turnover margin per game. The forecast for Cleveland on Saturday is a crisp 16 degrees with a 53% chance of snow. I don’t see how the Saints and their 21st-ranked run defense stop or even slow down a Browns team that can pound the ball, make the game a slugfest, and win ugly. I don’t think New Orleans will handle the weather well and I think Cleveland is the better team to boot, which is why I’ll lay the points with the Browns.
