New Orleans Saints DFS Spin
NBC Sports’ Peter King believes the Saints have “big plans” for first-round WR Chris Olave. Standing in the shadow of a returning Michael Thomas, Olave has not gotten a lot of ink this training camp. While this is a very promising report, that Thomas shadow could make it difficult for Olave to earn a big target share as a rookie. Even so, he has a big play profile and appears to be acclimating well. He should at worst be a spike week option.
Green Bay Packers DFS Spin
Pro Football Focus’ Doug Kyed reports Aaron Rodgers wants Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb, and Sammy Watkins to start at receiver. Kyed added that rookie Romeo Doubs, who has impressed throughout training camp, “has worked with the first-team offense and could boot someone from that group.” Rodgers recently had some constructive criticism for his new crop of young pass catchers. “The young guys, especially young receivers, we’ve got to be way more consistent,” Rodgers said Tuesday. “A lot of drops, a lot of bad route decisions, running the wrong route. We’ve got to get better in that area.” Doubs could find himself in three-wideout sets if Watkins once again struggles with injuries or he simply forces the Packers to feature him on the outside. One thing is clear: Lazard will start the regular season as Rodgers’ unquestioned No. 1 receiver. Whatever fantasy managers think of Lazard, he could get there on target volume alone.

Saints vs. Packers Prediction:
One theory that has worked well for me this preseason and in year’s past has been backing teams that have new coaching staffs because they seemingly believe they have more to lose. They want to start the season on the right foot while also proving to their front offices that they made the right choice. While Dennis Allen has been with the Saints for several years as their defensive coordinator, he was promoted to head coach this offseason and has been entrusted with a successful organization (at least under Sean Payton) in the midst of a transition. With Matt LaFleur already established in Green Bay, I’m going to take the points and back the Saints following a lackluster showing last week against the Broncos (and another new head coach in Nathaniel Hackett).
