Chargers 2012-13 NFL Season Odds
SAN DIEGO, CA (The Spread) – How many games will the San Diego Chargers win in 2012? Let’s take a look at the odds.
According to oddsmakers, the Chargers are 25/1 to win the 2013 Super Bowl and 12/1 to win the 2013 AFC Championship. They’re also 2/1 to win the AFC West Division this season and have an over/under win total of 9.
The Chargers were able to re-sign offensive tackle Jared Gaither and inked free agent receiver Robert Meachem, formerly of the Saints. They also signed outside linebacker Jarret Johnson (Ravens) but they lost Vincent Jackson (Bucs) and Mike Tolbert (Panthers) to free agent deals.
In the draft, the Chargers selected South Carolina defensive end Melvin Ingram in the first round and Connecticut defensive tackle Kendall Reyes in the second. In the third, the Bolts nabbed LSU safety Brandon Taylor and in the fourth they selected Louisiana-Lafayette tight end Ladarius Green.
The Chargers once again underachieved last season. They finished 8-8 despite having the better overall talent in the division and now that Jackson is gone, Antonio Gates continues to age and running back Ryan Mathews is expected to miss a couple of regular season games, the Bolts could struggle again this season. It would appear as though they’ve missed their window to win a championship, although quarterback Philip Rivers has shown that he can carry this team on his own and the defense is good enough to keep San Diego competitive. The question is whether or not the Chargers can overachieve now instead of constantly coming up short.
