49ers 2012 NFL Season Odds
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (The Spread) – After reaching the NFC Championship Game last season, the expectations are high for the 2012 San Francisco 49ers.
According to oddsmakers the 49ers are 9/1 to win the 2013 Super Bowl and 11/2 to win the 2013 NFC Championship. They’re also -250 to win the NFC West Division (making them the favorites) and have an over/under of 10 for number of wins in 2012.
The Niners were active this offseason, re-signing cornerback Carlos Rogers and quarterback Alex Smith to new contracts, as well as adding free agent receivers Mario Manningham of the Giants and Randy Moss, who played for the Titans in 2010. Ted Ginn Jr. was also re-signed and the team reached a one-year deal with guard Chilo Rachal, formerly of the Bears.
The 49ers had the 30th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft and used the selection to take Illinois receiver A.J. Jenkins, who got off to a slow start in training camp. The Niners then drafted Oregon running back LaMichael James with their second-round selection and then took Wake Forest guard Joe Looney in the fourth.
The Niners have one of the best defenses in the entire league, if not the best defense in the NFL. If Smith can do what he did last year in terms of managing the game and not turning the ball over, the Niners will easily win a weak NFC West. And if the additions of Manningham and Moss pan out, coupled with the development of Michael Crabtree, maybe the San Francisco passing game will be able to take this team to new heights in 2012. A Super Bowl appearance isn’t out of the realm of possibility.
