49ers vs. Packers Total Prediction
The Monday Night Football matchup is a dud this week but there’s always some intrigue from a betting standpoint. What’s the best play on the board when it comes to the over/under in tonight’s 49ers and Packers MNF matchup at 8:15 p.m. ET?
Game Snapshot
277 San Francisco 49ers at 278 Green Bay Packers
8:15 p.m. ET, Monday, October 15
Lambeau Field, Green Bay, Wisconsin
Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Packers are 9-point favorites to beat the 49ers. The total, meanwhile, sits at 46 points. As of this writing, 65% of the public betting tickets are on the Packers to cover the point spread.
San Francisco 49ers
49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said Matt Breida (questionable, ankle) is a game-time decision for Monday night against the Packers. Breida got in a limited practice Saturday after sitting the last two days. It gives him a chance to play this week, but he’s on the wrong side of questionable. Alfred Morris is in line to start and get the bulk of the carries if Breida sits.
Green Bay Packers
Randall Cobb (hamstring) is questionable for Monday night’s Week 6 game against the 49ers. Geronimo Allison (hamstring) is also questionable. Coach Mike McCarthy called both receivers game-time decisions. Green Bay has a Week 7 bye, so it’s possible the Packers will go on the conservative side and hold them out. Marquez Valdes-Scantling would make another start if one of Cobb or Allison sits.
NFL Betting Trends
San Francisco
The over is 4-0 in the 49ers’ last four games overall and is 4-1 in their last five games played in October.
Green Bay
The over is 21-5 in the Packers’ last 26 conference games and 22-6 in their last 28 games overall.
Prediction
The over cashed in six of the previous eight meetings between these two teams and while I have some concern the Niners will score enough to contribute, I do like the over again tonight. The Packers are banged-up at receiver but the 49ers are decimated defensively so there’s no reason to believe that Green Bay won’t score in the high-20s or low-30s. Plus, C.J. Beathard hasn’t been a total disaster since filling in for Jimmy Garappolo, throwing for 349 yards and two touchdowns (with two picks) against the Cardinals last week. Kyle Shanahan will figure out how to move the ball against the inexperienced Green Bay defense.
NFL Week 6 Prediction: 49ers/Packers over 46
