Will Texans running back Joe Mixon struggle against the Chiefs defense this afternoon? Will Penn State cover the number against SMU in the first round of the college football playoffs? Read on for our Saturday Cross-Sport Parlay.
Friday Cross-Sport Parlay Recap
My Friday Cross-Sport Parlay consisted of the Hurricanes (-146), the Heat (+1), Indiana (+6.5) and Providence (+6.5). Carolina fell 3-1 in Washington, Miami came up short against Oklahoma City and Indiana stunk in South Bend. The only leg that hit was Providence, which fell 72-70 to St. John’s.
CFB Saturday Cross-Sport Parlay: Penn State Nittany Lions -8.5 (-110), 12:00 p.m. ET
SMU couldn’t beat Clemson in the ACC title game and Clemson isn’t very good. I mean, they’re good when you compare them to Purdue or another crap Big Ten team. But they’re not good in the sense that they’re going to make a surprise run in the college football playoff.
Did you watch Notre Dame’s win over Indiana on Friday night? You’ll hear how the Fighting Irish dominated but I didn’t think Notre Dame played well on offense. They just happened to play an overmatched Indiana team that crapped itself like it did against Ohio State in its lone game against a decent opponent in the regular season. That’s how I view this matchup today in Happy Valley. Penn State gave Oregon – the No. 1 team in the nation – a game in the Big Ten title game. SMU couldn’t beat Clemson, which is about to get bone-sawed by Clemson.
I guess what I’m saying is that SMU is the Indiana of the ACC. And they’re about to be taken to the woodshed.
NFL Saturday Cross-Sport Parlay: Joe Mixon under 64.5 Rushing Yards (-110), 1:00 p.m. ET
Mixon rushed 12 times for just 23 yards in the Texans’ victory over the Dolphins last Sunday. While he appeared to avoid significant injury, he also left the game at one point because of his ankle. He did return to close the game out, but the injury is worth monitoring heading into today’s matchup with the Chiefs.
Regardless, I don’t see Mixon doing a lot of damage today against a stout Kansas City run defense. Mixon has chewed up bad defenses like the Jaguars in recent weeks (101 rushing yards), but has struggled when facing a unit with a pulse. For example, he rushed for only 23 yards versus Miami last week and 22 yards against Tennessee on November 24. He has gone under his rushing total in three of his last five games.
The Chiefs have allowed 3.7 yards per carry to running backs this season, which ranks second in the NFL. They have a 66.1% success rating against running back runs, which ranks fifth. It’ll be tough sledding today for Mixon.
NHL Saturday Cross-Sport Parlay: Los Angeles Kings -118, 1:40 p.m. ET
These two teams met in early November and the Kings posted a 3-0 shutout in Nashville. While the Kings have won eight out of their last 10 games overall, the overrated Predators have dropped eight out of their last 10 contests. Over that span, Nashville would have cost a $100.00 bettor -$530.00. This is a sh*t Nashville team that continues to be overpriced due to the offseason moves it made. But at some point, both fans and oddsmakers have to realize that just because a team adds talent, doesn’t mean its building a winner. And the Predators aren’t a winner. They’re a bona fide loser.
CBB Saturday Cross-Sport Parlay: North Carolina +104, 3:00 p.m. ET
While the sample size is between 2014 and 2022, North Carolina is a perfect 5-0 against UCLA, both straight up and against the spread. The last time these two blue bloods squared off was in March of 2022. The Tar Heels won that game 73-66 as a 2.5-point underdog.
UNC is coming off a 90-84 loss at Florida, but the Tar Heels gave the Gators all they could handle as a 3.5-point dog. They haven’t been a strong ATS team of late (1-6 ATS over their last seven games), but I think the Heels size and athleticism will give the Bruins issues today.
NBA Saturday Cross-Sport Parlay: Memphis Grizzlies -1.5 (-110), 7:40 p.m. ET
While they lost their last meeting with Atlanta, the Grizzlies have won three out of their last four games versus the Hawks. They covered the number in three out of those four matchups as well.
The Grizzlies are also hot. They’ve won five out of their last six games, with their lone loss coming at the Lakers last Sunday. Memphis also covered the spread in six out of its last seven games, whereas Atlanta is just 1-4 at the window in its last five games overall.
Cross-Sport Parlay Odds: +2522 (Fanduel Sportsbook)
