Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, North Carolina

Public Betting Trends

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Panthers are 3.5-point favorites to beat the Seahawks. The total, meanwhile, sits at 46.5 points. As of this writing, 57% of the public betting tickets are on the Seahawks to cover the point spread.

Seattle Seahawks

Russell Wilson completed 21-of-31 passes for 225 yards and two touchdowns in the Seahawks’ 27-24, Week 11 win over the Packers. Wilson added five carries for 17 additional yards. It never felt like the Seahawks were playing particularly well, but the Packers proved to be even more mistake prone. It was a shaky effort from Wilson, who badly missed a gimme 21-yard touchdown to Doug Baldwin in the first quarter and made some awful decisions — including a Matthew Stafford-style lateral that killed a drive near the end of the first half — with the ball in his hands outside the pocket. Thankfully none of them turned into disasters like his Week 9 pick six against the Chargers. Wilson is oscillating between game manager and playmaker for an offense coach Pete Carroll is obsessed with funneling through the run game. The Seahawks head to Carolina for Week 12.

Carolina Panthers

Cam Newton completed 25-of-37 passes for 357 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception in the Panthers’ Week 11 loss to the Lions. Cam easily led the Panthers down the field on the opening drive, completing 5-of-6 passes for 80 yards and a score, but it was mostly a struggle for the rest of the first half. Aside from an 82-yard connection with D.J. Moore in which the rookie did most of the work, Newton did not have much more success in the third quarter, and he suffered an injury scare when a couple defenders fell on the back of his leg. The injury seemed to spark him. He led a quick touchdown drive to tie the game the next series. Following a Lions touchdown, he marched the Panthers back down the field for another score in the closing moments. Instead of kicking the possible game-tying extra point, the Panthers put the ball in Newton’s hands for the possible win. It ended up being a bad decision. Despite a lifetime in the pocket, Newton overthrew an open receiver in the end zone. It is a disappointing loss, but Newton once again had a nice fantasy day. He will be a locked-in QB1 next week against the Seahawks.

NFL Betting Trends

Seattle

The under is 4-1 in the Seahawks last five road games and 13-6 in their last 19 conference matchups.

Carolina

The over is 6-2 in the Panthers’ last eight games after accumulating more than 350 total yards in their previous game.

Prediction

The Panthers were gashed on the ground last Sunday in Detroit and will now face a Seattle offense that ranks No. 1 in the league in rushing. If the Seahawks get their rushing attack rolling then the clock will also be moving and that will limit scoring.

NFL Week 12 Prediction: Seahawks/Panthers under 46.5
