Seattle Seahawks vs. Kansas City Chiefs 8/13/16 NFL Preseason Picks

Seahawks vs. Chiefs Pick

A pair of playoff teams from the last two years will meet today in Kansas City when the Chiefs host the Seahawks at 4:30PM ET.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Chiefs are now 3.5-point home favorites versus the Seahawks after the line opened at Kansas City -1.5. As for the over/under, the number jumped to 36 after opening at 35.5.

Bet Today’s Seahawks vs. Chiefs Game

The Chiefs won’t have Tamba Hali (knee, active/PUP), Justin Houston (knee, active/PUP) or Jamaal Charles (knee, PUP) for tonight’s game. The good news, however, is that quarterback Alex Smith is reportedly having his best training camp to date.

“His decision making is great,” said co-offensive coordinator Matt Nagy. “There’s no second-guessing.”

As for the Seahawks, running back Thomas Rawls (ankle) has been ruled out for today’s preseason opener against the Chiefs. He just came off the PUP and is being brought along slowly after missing all OTAs while recovering from ankle surgery. Jimmy Graham, C.J. Prosise, Kam Chancellor, J’Marcus Webb and Jordan Hill have also been ruled out for tonight’s game.

OUR PICK: The line movement that has occurred for this matchup is interesting. Normally, preseason lines fall between 2.5 and 3.5 in favor of the home team, but the line for this game shot up a full two points after opening at Kansas City -1.5. I’d play into the line movement and take the Chiefs despite the number of injuries that they’re dealing with on defense. Once Russell Wilson comes out, rookie Trevone Boykin will take over under center, while the Chiefs will benefit from turning the reigns of the offense over to Tyler Bray, Aaron Murray and/or Nick Foles, all veterans. Thus, the Chiefs should pull away in the second half.
