NFL Week 1 Regular Season
Pittsburgh Steelers DFS Spin
Ben Roethlisberger completed 8-of-10 passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns in the Steelers’ third preseason game against the Lions. Roethlisberger looked comfortable pushing the ball down the field which was a welcomed sight for anyone who saw him play last year. He frequently looked to throw past the sticks and even hit Diontae Johnson on a 43-yard strike. Both of Roethlisberger’s scores went to rookie tight end Pat Freiermouth. Detroit will field one of the weakest secondaries this year, so it’s dangerous to take away too much from this game. However, an increased emphasis on downfield throws would drastically change the complexion of Pittsburgh’s passing attack. This performance should at least give fantasy managers the confidence they need to draft Steelers receivers at their current salaries.
Buffalo Bills DFS Spin
Josh Allen completed 20-of-26 passes for 194 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday’s preseason finale against the Packers. Allen was facing the Packers’ second-team defense and responded with flawless football. Stunning, we know. It’s just a reminder not to sleep on Allen as the potential QB1 overall after last year’s electrifying breakout campaign. It is tempting to believe Allen is due for some sort of statistical regression, but superstars don’t always conform to our models. Allen is a full-blown superstar heading into his age-25 season.
