Peyton to struggle again?
Peyton Manning makes his first start in two months when he leads the Denver Broncos against the Pittsburgh Steelers in today’s NFL Divisional Playoffs. Can Manning deliver for Denver?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Denver is favored in tonight’s game, as the Broncos are getting odds of -7.5 points against the Steelers. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 40.5 points. These two will meet today at 4:40PM ET on CBS.
Manning leads the Broncos (12-4, 8-8 ATS) into today’s game after a small appearance in Denver’s 27-20 win over the Chargers to end the season. Manning replaced Brock Osweiler mid-game and went 5 of 9 passing for 69 yards. It was his first action since Nov. 15 when he was 5 of 20 for 35 yards with four interceptions against the Chiefs. He was benched and later put on the shelf due to lingering injuries. Manning hasn’t started since that game but claims he feels as healthy as he has all season.
This season hasn’t been kind to Peyton, as he has thrown for 2,249 yards with 9 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. Today he faces the Steelers (11-6, 9-6-2 ATS), who have the 30th-ranked pass defense, allowing 271.9 yards per game. Despite that, oddsmakers are staying cool on Manning today. His over/under for passing yards has been set at 248.5 and his over/under for passing touchdowns is listed at 1.5. Manning has thrown for 249 yards or more in six of his eight starts this season. He has only had multiple touchdown passes in three games, however. Pittsburgh has allowed 250 passing yards or more in 11 games during the regular season and it allowed multiple passing TDs in seven games.
