The Baltimore Ravens receiver announced his decision on Monday, stating that it is time for him to enjoy time with his family after 15 seasons in the NFL.

“I feel like it’s time,” said Smith after Monday’s practice. “I’m going to retire after this, go home and be a dad and look back and enjoy things. I don’t want to hold on. (Jerry) Rice is the best wide receiver to ever play. But I don’t believe that chasing whatever it is to chase for four more years would be conducive to my family or be conducive to me. I would be having to give up something. I would be jeopardizing something. I don’t know what that it is, and I have any intentions of finding out.”

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Baltimore Ravens are currently listed with 22/1 odds to win the Super Bowl this upcoming season and 11/1 odds to win the AFC Championship.

After 13 seasons with the Carolina Panthers, Smith joined the Ravens in 2014 and had a very impressive year, catching 79 passes for 1,065 yards with six touchdowns. Smith has had a very decorated career, catching a total of 915 passes with 13,262 yards and 73 touchdowns. He currently ranks 14th in NFL history in receiving yards and is third amongst active receivers. He is 18th in all-time receptions and can be just the 11th man to ever catch 1,000 passes if he has 85 receptions in 2015.
