Will Tom Brady or Matt Ryan win the Super Bowl 51 MVP award at the conclusion of tonight’s Patriots and Falcons game?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Brady is currently a -300 money line favorite to win Super Bowl 51 MVP. Ryan, meanwhile, has the next-best odds at -125 and Julio Jones has the best odds to win of the non-quarterbacks at +500. Julian Edelman also has comporable odds to Jones at +750.

Some of the other players listed were Devonta Freeman, who is +1300 to win Super Bowl 51 MVP, while Dion Lewis is also +1300 and LeGarrette Blount is +1200. Tevin Coleman, meanwhile, is +2100 while Vic Beasley is +2400, Chris Hogan is +2500 and Mohamed Sanu is +2800.

So which player will win Super Bowl 51 MVP? Here are three players to consider.
Matt Ryan -125
Brady doesn’t offer much value for bettors at -300 but even at -125, Ryan is still listed at a decent price. If the Falcons pull off the upset this evening, it’ll be because Ryan carried over his MVP-caliber play from the regular season and playoffs. With the way he distributes the ball, no other Falcon besides Jones will have a big performance. (Freeman and Coleman both split time in Atlanta’s backfield, while Sanu won’t see the same amount of targets that Jones will.) Even though Brady is the most obvious candidate to win the MVP, we’re not going to recommend him due to his price tag. But we won’t overlook Ryan at his current price, especially if you believe the Falcons will win.
LeGarrette Blount +1200
The Falcons’ defense is extremely fast and physical, but they’re also undersized. Bill Belichick knows this so Josh McDaniels’ game plan may center on hammering Blount between the tackles. If the Patriots can sustain long drives with the help of their running game, they can keep Ryan and Atlanta’s explosive offense on the sidelines for long stretches at a time. Blount also scored the most rushing touchdowns in the league this season so if he reches pay dirt multiple times tonight, there’s a good chance he could win MVP honors. His current +1200 price represents good value as well.
Julio Jones +500
As previously noted, it’ll be difficult for Freeman or Coleman to take home MVP honors tonight because of the way they split time in the Falcons’ backfield. Sanu, Taylor Gabriel and the rest of Atlanta’s receivers only see so many targets in the passing game because Ryan does a great job getting everyone involved. But Jones, whether he’s double-teamed or not, will carve out a significant role in tonight’s game. If any Falcon outside of Ryan is going to win MVP, Jones has the best chance.
