Bettors Still Backing Eagles in SB52

Super Bowl 52 is rapidly approaching and now that we’re in the homestretch, are public bettors still backing the Eagles to cover against the Patriots?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book YouWager, the Patriots are 4.5-point favorites to beat the Eagles in Super Bowl LII. New England opened as a 6-point favorite at most online sportsbooks but the number has dropped steadily since.

As for the total, the number hit the board at 47.5, went up to 48, but is back down to 47.5 at some books. If you like the under, you can shop around and still find the number at 48. This is where it’s vital to have multiple sportsbooks so that you can get the best line and not have to pay extra juice.

Bet Patriots vs. Eagles Super Bowl LII

Despite being the underdog, the Eagles are receiving the majority of the backing from the public. As of Thursday morning, 55% of betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Eagles to cover the spread.

That said, according to Sports Insights, 52% of the money wagered at online sportsbooks is on the Patriots. Thus, more betting tickets are on the Eagles but the money is still on the favorite. This could be different in Las Vegas but at least on line, the betting has been split from a ticket-money standpoint.

In fact, the action is probably much different in Vegas. That’s because William Hill took a $1 million wager on Philly moneyline earlier this week, while the Wynn in Vegas took a “high six figures” bet on the Eagles money line. The MGM Mirage reportedly took a multimillion dollar bet on Philly to win outright as well.

Meanwhile, 61% of the betting tickets are on the over but 56% of the money wagered at online sportsbooks is on the under. For what it’s worth, the over has cashed in four of the last five meetings between these two teams while the underdog is 5-1 against the spread in the last six meetings in this series
