Five Chiefs Player Prop Predictions
Patrick Mahomes over 292.5 Passing Yards
In 19 games this season including playoffs, Mahomes averaged 303.74 passing yards per game. Worried about Philly’s defense? Mahomes averaged 300.11 passing yards per game the nine times that Kansas City faced an opponent with a winning record this season. While he threw for only 195 yards against the Jaguars in the Divisional round, keep in mind that he suffered his ankle injury in the first half of that contest. When he faced the Bengals a week later, he threw for 326 yards in the team’s 23-20 victory. It’s unlikely Andy Reid will suddenly find the desire to run the football on Sunday, meaning Mahomes will have plenty of opportunities to rack up yards.
Marques Valdes-Scantling over 35.5 Receiving Yards
Scantling had a big game against the Bengals in the AFC Championship, racking up 116 yards through the air. Granted, he finished with only six receiving yards versus the Jaguars and if you go back to his final two regular season games, he racked up 27 yards receiving versus the Raiders and only 28 versus Denver. Still, if JuJu Smith-Schuster and/or Kadarius Toney suffer injury setbacks during the game on Sunday, MVS could be in store for another huge game.
Jerick McKinnon under 18.5 Rushing Yards
Isiah Pacheco has taken over as the clear RB1 in Kansas City and after not getting many looks in the passing game throughout the season, the Chiefs targeted the rookie back more in the AFC title game. McKinnon averaged 16.68 rushing yards in his 19 regular-season games for the Chiefs and given Reid’s penchant for throwing the ball, I don’t see the running back being involved much in the ground game tonight. If and when the Chiefs use McKinnon, it’ll be as a pass-catcher out of the backfield.
Travis Kelce Anytime Touchdown -115
Kelce caught two touchdown passes versus the Jaguars in the Divisional round and then added one more to his postseason tally when he found the end zone again versus the Bengals in the AFC title game. When in doubt, Mahomes will look to Kelce and Reid is outstanding when it comes to designing ways to get the ball to his future Hall of Fame tight end around the goal line.
Kadarius Toney under 27.5 receiving yards
I like Toney and I know the Chiefs intend to use him in a variety of ways but the dude can’t stay healthy. He was knocked out of the game versus the Bengals two weeks ago and while he received a clear bill of health to face the Eagles on Super Bowl Sunday, I don’t think he’ll be heavily active in the passing game. Perhaps Reid will find ways to get the ball in Toney’s hands on end arounds or jet sweeps, but I see MVS and Kelce being the primary weapons in the passing game.
