Super Bowl LI Odds 3/4/15 – Houston Texans release back Arian Foster

Texans moving on without Foster

The Houston Texans parted way with their all-time leading rusher, Arian Foster, on Thursday, marking a new chapter for the organization.

Foster had battled injuries throughout his career, playing just four games last season and eight during the 2013 season. He had only played 16 games in two of the seven season with the franchise. Still, Foster rushed for 6,472 yards and 54 touchdowns while catching 249 passes for 2,268 yards and 14 more scores as a Texan.

“There are not many players I respect more than Arian Foster,” Texans general manager Rick Smith said in a statement. “He maximized his opportunity as an undrafted college free agent and worked to become the most productive back in franchise history, and one of the most complete backs in the NFL during his tenure with the Texans. Arian has contributed much, and meant a great deal to the success of the franchise over the past seven seasons and we wish only the best as he continues his playing career.”

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Texans are currently listed with 40/1 odds to win Super Bowl LI next season. The Texans also have 25/1 odds to win the AFC Championship. You can see more NFL Futures Odds by clicking the link.

The Texans went 9-7 last season despite being without Foster. That was good enough to win the AFC South, however the Texans bowed out in the first round of the playoffs. Alfred Blue was the team’s leading rusher without Foster. He ran for 698 yards and two scores. Chris Polk added 334 yards. It’s unclear who will be the primary ball carrier for Houston next season. They could be in the mix for a high draft pick at the position.
