Cowboys put exclusive tag on Prescott
The Dallas Cowboys finally made a move on quarterback Dak Prescott, electing to put an exclusive franchise tag on him on Monday.
According to oddsmakers, the Cowboys are currently listed with 18/1 odds to win the Super Bowl next season. Kansas City is the favorite to repeat, as the Chiefs are listed with 6/1 odds while the 49ers have 8/1 odds and the Ravens are listed at 10/1.
Monday was a big day for NFL moves and one of the biggest was the Cowboys putting the exclusive tag on Dak Prescott. The Cowboys now have until July 15 to work out a long-term contract with he QB. If no deal is reached, then Prescott will play next season on a 1-year contract expected to be worth $30-33 million. With the exclusive tag, Prescott is not permitted to speak to other teams in the NFL.
Prescott has played for season with the Cowboys and been quite productive. He has thrown for 15,778 yards and 97 touchdowns with 36 interceptions. Last season, Prescott had his most productive stats, throwing for 4,902 yards and 30 touchdowns, both of which were career-highs. Prescott has also rushed for 1,221 yards and 21 touchdowns over four seasons.
During Prescott’s time with Dallas, they have a 40-24 record with two playoff appearances. The Cowboys are 1-2 in the playoffs during his run as well. Last season, Dallas went 8-8 and missed out on the division title despite the NFC East being a mess. Dallas cut ties with head coach Jason Garrett and hired former Packers coach Mike McCarthy to lead the way. McCarthy coached the Packers and Aaron Rodgers to a super Bowl.
