Titans 2012 NFL Season Odds
NASHVILLE, TN (The Spread) – Will the Tennessee Titans rack up over or under 7 wins this NFL season?
Oddsmakers have installed the Titans as 50/1 long shots to win the 2013 Super Bowl and 25/1 long shots to win the 2013 AFC Championship. They’re also +450 on the money line to win the AFC South Division and have an over/under of 7 games for total number of wins in the 2012 NFL regular season.
Among Tennessee’s losses in free agency were cornerback Cortland Finnegan (Rams) and defensive lineman James Jones, two big hits to the Titan defense. Tennessee did add guard Steve Hutchinson (Vikings) this offseason, who should help strengthen the interior of the team’s offensive line (a weakness last season).
The Titans wanted to add more playmakers through the draft, and that’s exactly what they did when they selected Baylor wideout Kendall Wright with the 20th overall pick. They also drafted speedy North Carolina outside linebacker Zach Brown in the second and Michigan defensive tackle Mike Martin in the third.
The biggest camp battle right now is at quarterback where veteran Matt Hasselbeck and youngster Jake Locker are competing to win the starting job. Whomever winds up starting at quarterback should benefit from a rejuvenated Chris Johnson, who showed up to camp on time and in shape, which is something he didn’t do a year ago. That said, Wright better be ready to make an impact right away because former first-round pick Kenny Britt continues to have issues with injuries and the law. Who knows what to expect out of Britt this year.
