Tennessee Titans vs. Washington Redskins, 12/22/18 Week 16 Predictions

Titans vs. Redskins Spread Prediction

The Tennessee Titans are laying 10 points to a banged-up Washington Redskins team at 4:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. Is that too many points to lay with a team as inconsistent as the Titans have been offensively this season?

Game Snapshot

Public Betting Trends

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Titans are 10-point favorites to beat the Redskins. The total, meanwhile, sits at 37.5 points. As of this writing, 66% of the public betting tickets are on the Redskins to cover the point spread.

Washington Redskins

Vernon Davis (concussion) is questionable for Week 16 against the Titans. Davis began exhibiting concussion symptoms on Wednesday and wasn’t able to practice on Thursday. He’s looking like a long shot for Saturday’s game in Nashville. With Jordan Reed (toe) already ruled out, Jeremy Sprinkle should soak up most of the snaps at tight end for Washington. He’s not a streaming consideration.

Tennessee Titans

Titans OLB Brian Orakpo (elbow) is out for Week 16 against the Redskins. Orakpo was hoping to at least practice this week, but that never materialized. This will be his second straight absence. Second-round rookie Harold Landry will pick up his snaps at outside linebacker.

NFL Betting Trends

Washington

The under is 4-1 in the Redskins’ last five road games but the over is 8-2 in their last 10 road games when facing an opponent with a winning home record.

Tennessee

The under is 4-1 in the Titans’ last five games coming off a win.

Prediction

The Redskins are down to Josh Johnson at quarterback after losing Alex Smith and Colt McCoy to injury and following the benching of Mark Sanchez. Johnson led the Redskins to an upset win a week ago on the road versus the Jaguars and while I don’t believe he’ll pull off another upset on Sunday, Washington is catching too many points here. Johnson will find it difficult to move the ball consistently against that Titan defense but I don’t trust Marcus Mariota to light up the scoreboard either. Tennessee is likely to get the ball on the ground with Derrick Henry, who has turned in back-to-back fantastic games. With the clock moving late in the fourth quarter and the Titans nursing a lead, I like the Redskins to keep the final score without the spread.
