HOU pushing for AFC South title
The Houston Texans are making a surprise run at the AFC South after a slow start. Do oddsmakers like their chances against the New Orleans Saints today?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Texans are favored at home in this game, as they are getting odds of -3 points against the Saints. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 48 points. These two meet today at 1PM ET on FOX.
The Texans are tied for first in the AFC South entering this weekend. They are 5-5 on the year, which matches the Colts, who have really been struggling throughout the year. Oddsmakers still see the Texans as inferior to Indy, as the Colts are a -175 favorite to win the AFC South while the Texans have a money line of +260 to win the division title. At 5-5 against the spread this season, Houston is riding a three-game win streak despite an injury to Brian Hoyer at QB. He is expected to return this week, which could mean more big things for DeAndre Hopkins, who has 76 receptions for 1,045 yards and nine touchdowns this season.
Those two meet up with the NFL’s worst defense, as the Saints give up 31.5 points and 424.3 total yards per game. They also rank 31st in pass defense at 293.1 yards per game. The team fired DC Rob Ryan, but don’t expect that to change much. New Orleans is 4-6 on the year and 4-5-1 against the spread. They suffered losses to the Titans and Redskins prior to the bye week and have given up at least 34 points in three straight games.
