Texans favored vs. Jaguars
JACKSONVILLE, FL (The Spread) – The Houston Texans are quietly building some momentum as they hit the road this Sunday to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars. Will it continue?
Houston has won two of its last three and is now 6-6 on the season. The Texans find themselves two games back of Indy in the AFC South race and they are in the thick of the wild card hunt. The Texans are now 7-5 against the spread on the season and they have covered in their last two road games.
The Jaguars are coming off their second win of the season, 25-24 over the Giants. New York held a 21-3 lead in the game, but the Jags rallied. Both of the Jaguars wins have come at home this season and they are now 3-8-1 against the spread. The Jags are just 1-3-1 against the spread in their last four and they have not been favored in a game this season.
Oddsmakers like the Texans to keep on winning, as oddsmakers from Bovada.lv have given Houston odds of -6 points at Jacksonville on Sunday. The over/under total has been set at 42 points (View Matchup). The Jaguars have won their last two against Houston and covered in three straight meetings heading into the 1PM ET kickoff on CBS this Sunday.
The key in this game will come down to Jacksonville’s ability to stop the pass. The Jaguars rank 24th in the NFL in pass defense at 253.8 yards per game and are facing a Texans’ offense that had six touchdown passes last week from Ryan Fitzpatrick. He has thrown for 2,318 yards and 17 touchdowns this season and just recently got the starting job back after Ryan Mallett suffered a torn pectoral muscle.
