Texans cap off huge week for underdogs
With their 10-6 win over the Bengals on Monday night, the Texans capped off a massive week for underdogs in the NFL.
Houston, a 10-point underdog at kickoff according to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, ruined Cincinnati’s perfect season on Monday night with a 10-6 victory at Paul Brown Stadium. The Texans were the 11th underdog to win outright in Week 10 and the 12th underdog to cover the spread. Only the Giants, in a 27-26 loss to the Patriots on Sunday, covered the spread as an underdog but failed to win outright.
It was a horrible week for favorites, although the Carolina Panthers continue to roll both straight up and against the spread. With their 27-10 win over the Titans, the Panthers are now 9-0 straight up and 7-2 against the spread as they covered as a 3.5-point road dog. They were one of only two favorites that covered in Week 10, with the Steelers (-7) also covering in a 30-9 win over the Browns.
The Vikings also kept their ATS win streak alive in a 30-14 victory over the raiders as a 3-point road dog. Minnesota has now covered the spread in eight straight games dating back to its Week 1 loss to San Francisco as a 2.5-point road favorite. That’s the best ATS streak in the NFL currently.
