When looking at the line history for this game, some online books opened the Broncos as low as -6.5 for tonight’s game, then moved the line to -7, then -7.5, and now the majority of online and Vegas books list Denver as an 8-point favorite. In fact, some online books even had the Broncos as high as -9 and -8.5, although there clearly was some buyback on the Texans because those numbers were short-lived.

In Vegas, the Broncos opened as a 7-point favorite at the MGM Mirage but are now -8.5. At other Vegas sports books, Denver is -8.5 at William Hill, -8.5 at Wynn LV, and -8 at the Westgate Superbook. The total is also 40.5 across the board in Vegas, after opening at 41.5.

Our NFL Public Betting page shows that 60% of wagers are currently on the Broncos -8, so the line movement is an indication of both public money and sharps pushing the point spread up. It’s unlikely that books would adjust the line a full 2.5 points in some places if there weren’t sharp money on the line. It’ll be interesting to see if there’s any buyback on Houston before kickoff, or if the line is done moving. It’s doubtful that the spread will reach double-digits, but you never know.
If you like the Broncos, move now, but understand that the value is long gone.
