Thanksgiving trend favors Pack tonight
An interesting Thanksgiving betting trend favors the Packers in their game tonight versus the Bears at 8:30PM ET.
PredictionMachine.com notes that in the last 10 years, favorites of a touchdown or more on Thanksgiving are 10-2 against the spread. That trend fits Green Bay, which is currently an 8-point favorite over Chicago according to oddsmakers at online sports book BetDSI.
Last year, the Lions were a 7.5-point home favorite on Thanksgiving Day and covered in a 34-17 victory over the Bears. In 2013, Detroit also covered as a 7-point favorite in a 40-10 blowout of Green Bay, but Dallas failed to cover as a 10-point home favorite versus Oakland.
In 2012, the Patriots covered as a 7-point road favorite versus the Jets in the infamous “Butt fumble” game (a 49-19 victory for New England). In 2011, the Cowboys once again failed to cash as a 7-plus favorite in a 20-19 win over the Dolphins. In 2010, the Patriots successfully covered as a 7-point favorite in a 45-24 blowout of the Lions, while the Jets covered as a 9.5-point home favorite in a 26-10 win over the Bengals.
