Giants favored over Redskins
EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ (The Spread) – The NFC East’s worst meet up in a rivalry game on Sunday as the New York Giants host the Washington Redskins at 1PM ET on FOX.
The Giants are coming off a 36-7 win at Tennessee last week, which snapped a seven-game losing streak. New York dominated the game, holding the Titans to just 207 yards of offense while amassing 402 yards on their own. New York is now 4-9 on the season and 5-8 against the spread. The Giants have covered in two of their last three.
Washington is coming off a 24-0 loss to the Rams at home. The Redskins have now dropped five straight games to fall to 3-10 on the season. Washington was held to 206 yards of offense in the loss. Colt McCoy was injured in the loss and he is questionable to play this week, which could put Robert Griffin III back on the field. Griffin was benched for McCoy a few weeks ago. Washington is just 1-4 against the spread in its last 5 games heading into Sunday’s game with the Giants.
Oddsmakers like the Giants at home in this game, as oddsmakers from BetDSI have given New York odds of -6.5 points against the Redskins on Sunday. The over/under total for the game has been set at 47 points (View Matchup). The Giants have won three straight over Washington, including a 45-14 win at Washington on Sept. 25. The Giants have also covered the spread in three straight against the Redskins.
Neither team has a real strong point, but the Washington defense has played better than the team’s record would indicate. The Redskins are 12th in the NFL in pass defense (237.8 ypg) and 11th in rushing defense (105 ypg). The unit is led by Ryan Kerrigan, who has 11.5 sacks. He could pose a problem for a New York offense that is averaging just over 350 yards per game.
