Pats haven’t been great title game bet
While they did win their most recent AFC title matchup, the Patriots have not been profitable for bettors on Championship Sunday the past four seasons.
Last year the Patriots crushed the Colts 45-7 in the AFC Championship Game, covering easily as a 7-point home favorite. But in the three previous AFC title games, bettors could have made plenty of money betting against Tom Brady and Co.
In the 2014 AFC Championship, the Broncos beat the Patriots 26-16 while covering as a 5-point favorite. The year prior, New England fell to Baltimore 28-13 as an 8-point home favorite and also failed to cover as a 7-point home favorite versus those same Ravens in a 23-20 victory in the 2012 AFC Championship.
The Patriots will once again be favored in the AFC title game when they travel to Denver this weekend. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Pats are 3-point favorites over the Broncos while the over/under currently sits at 44.5 points. The Patriots are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games versus the Broncos but they’re 1-5 ATS in their last six trips to Denver.
