Saints giving 10 to the Panthers
NEW ORLEANS, LA (The Spread) – It’s been over a month since the New Orleans Saints have won a game in the Superdome. Will that change against the Carolina Panthers?
The Saints have always been one of the best teams at home in the NFL, but they come into this game having lost their last three in the Dome. Despite that, the Saints are coming off a 35-32 road win at Pittsburgh that wasn’t as close as the score indicates. The Saints are just 5-7 against the spread on the year, but the team already holds a 28-10 win at Carolina.
Oddsmakers don’t seem to fear the Saints at home, as they are the clear favorite in Sunday’s 1PM ET contest on FOX. The oddsmakers from Bovada.lv have given the Saints odds of -10 points against the Panthers (View Matchup). The over/under total for the game has been set at 49.5 points.
Carolina is in an absolute freefall, losing six straight games with a 31-13 loss at Minnesota that saw the Panthers allow two touchdowns on special teams. The Panthers come into this game 6-6 against the spread, and have been underdogs in seven straight games.
In the previous meeting, it was the New Orleans defense that actually was the story, holding the Panthers to just 231 total yards, including 122 passing yards. The Panthers have the 17th-ranked passing defense in the NFL, which should be an issue against Drew Brees, who has thrown for 3,748 yards and 27 touchdowns.
