Three Picks to Consider in Your NFL Week 7 Survivor Pool 10/17/17

Three Week 7 NFL Survivor Pool Options

What are the best options for Week 7 in your NFL survivor pool? Here are three options that should be safe to get you to the next round.

If you’re still reading this, you didn’t take the Falcons and Broncos last week. Congratulations. That also means you didn’t follow our advice, unless you took the Redskins, in which case you received a scare but still advanced. We’ll try to do better this week.

1. New Orleans Saints

Ugh. I don’t like taking road teams in survivor pools but the Week 7 slate is slim pickings. The Saints are facing a Packers team that won’t have Aaron Rodgers and while Brett Hundley will be better than what he showed a week ago in Minnesota (don’t forget he’ll have a full week of receiving first-team reps at practice), Green Bay is still likely to struggle. The other good thing about the Saints is that they’re red-hot. After starting off the season 0-2, they’ve played much better on defense in their three-game winning streak and Drew Brees is still tearing up defenses on a weekly basis. I don’t love this option, but it might be the best one on the slate.

2. Tennessee Titans

Did I mention how I don’t like taking road teams in survivor pools? Yeah, well, here’s another one. The Titans are fresh off a victory against the Colts on Monday night and thus, they’ll be short on rest and preparation. Fortunately they’re currently the biggest favorite in Week 7 and they’re taking on a Browns team that is once again in utter disarray. Hue Jackson might go back to rookie Deshone Kizer at quarterback but honestly, it doesn’t matter whether Kizer starts or Kevin Hogan plays because the Browns simply aren’t talented. Tennessee received a boost on Monday night with the return of Marcus Mariota, who finally got the offense moving in the second half against Indianapolis. The Titans should be fine in Cleveland on Sunday.

3. Minnesota Vikings

If you’re like me and you don’t feel comfortable picking a road team, then the Vikings are your best option among the home favorites this week. You could make an argument for the Eagles too, but I hate picking divisional games in survivor pools even more than road teams. Baltimore won two weeks ago in Oakland but then laid an egg at home against a rookie quarterback in Week 6. The Vikings should eat Joe Flacco alive on Sunday and if Case Keenum can continue to play mistake-free football, the Vikings should get you to Week 8 unscathed (where hopefully there will be better options). Even though 64% of public bettors are backing Minnesota, hopefully the Vikings aren’t a popular pick this week in your pool (and thus, you’ll sneak by while others fall victim to upsets).
