3 Teams on Upset Alert in Week 14
Each week we scour the NFL odds board and choose three underdogs that are poised for a prodigious performance or maybe fade three favorites that could be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Let’s go to work and make our bookies pay with these dogs that are ready to bite!
Las Vegas Raiders vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Sunday, December 12th, 1:00 pm ET at Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, MO
Ostensibly the Chiefs are back on track, having won their last five games and covering the number in their last three. But it should be noted that if we eliminate the 41-14 blowout of Vegas the Chiefs have averaged a paltry 15 ½ points per game dating back to their loss to the Titans on October 24th.
The Kansas City defense has certainly come alive but the offense is not quite clicking. And if we go back to the thrashing of the Raiders, we should note that Las Vegas had several injuries on the defensive side of the ball but this week will see them much healthier.
And one more thing to keep in mind. The Chiefs are working on a short week with a Thursday night showdown looming with the Chargers. This could be the proverbial trap game for the Chiefs and let’s not forget that KC is ranked 24th defending the pass while the Raiders own the No. 2 passing offense.
The last game between these clubs was an aberration, an outlier, so don’t believe for a moment this will be a replica of their November 14th meeting. This one will be much closer and if the Chiefs are caught looking ahead to their date with the Bolts, an upset could be brewing so think about throwing a few bucks on the Raiders moneyline. Speaking of making money, don’t forget to check out BMR’s Week 14 parlay!

New Orleans Saints vs. New York Jets
Sunday, December 12th, 1:00 pm ET at MetLife Stadium, Rutherford, NJ
It’s no picnic betting the Jets. They’re not a very good team and have not only disappointed their fans but have caused their backers to go broke with an identical 3-9 straight up and against the spread record. It’s not pretty being a member of Gang Green this season but we feel this might be a good spot for an upset.
The Saints are a team in the midst of a shame spiral. Taysom Hill took over the duties under center last week and the results were much the same as they have been recently – another New Orleans loss. In fact, it was the fifth straight defeat as Hill was hardly the answer the Saints were looking for under center when he tossed four interceptions in the team’s 27-17 loss to Dallas.
So now I ask you, who are they to be laying six points on the road to anyone?! At least the Jets have won a game over the last five weeks while the same cannot be said for the Saints. We should also note a few trends working in New York’s favor:
– Saints are 0-4 ATS vs. a team with a losing record.
– Saints are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games as a favorite.
– Jets are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games in December.
Back the Jets in this one and cash a ticket in your NFL picks on Sunday!

Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Football Team
Sunday, December 12th, 1:00 pm ET at FedEx Field, Landover, MD
The last time we checked, the Washington Football Team was on a roll, having won their last four games including a stunner over the Tampa Bay Bucs. Now the Cowboys are coming to town, a mercurial team, to say the least, this season and the oddsmakers are giving the WFT +4 points in their own sandbox. Really?
Also, if you haven’t noticed, this Washington defense that was supposed to be so good entering the season but sorely disappointed in the early going has begun to round into form. Consider that their opponents have scored an average of just 18.5 points per game over their last six contests. And if Dak Prescott isn’t fully recovered from his finger injury then this could be a long day for the Boyz and another upset for the No-Namers.
Upset Alert: Washington +4 (-110) or +165 on the moneyline at BetOnline
