3 Teams on Upset Alert in NFL Week 8

Every week throughout the NFL season we see our fair share of upsets and last week we caught an outright winner with the Bengals over the Ravens in a romp!

Let’s look for more upsets on Sunday in our NFL picks for Week 8.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Detroit Lions

Sunday, October 31, 2021 – 1:00 PM ET at Ford Field, Detroit, MI

Picking a 3 ½ point home underdog to win outright would hardly classify as a monumental upset but upsets come in all shapes and sizes. And anytime we can get the bookie to pay us the juice instead of vice versa, well, that always brings a smile to our face.

In this matchup, we see the Eagles laying the lumber after getting whipped, 33-22, in Sin City by the Raiders last week. The problem with the Eagles’ offense is that they are relying on one man to do it all and Jalen Hurts is simply not the same dynamic player as Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, or even Josh Allen. Those are elite mobile quarterbacks who can burn you through the air or on the ground with their feet. Hurts can do both but just not as well, and on a team with limited talent, that will be a mountain too high to climb.

The Lions looked plucky in defeat last week as they bowed to the Rams, 28-19, and remain winless on the season. If they have any chance of breaking that losing streak, Sunday is the day because the worst team they face after this will be the Bears in a few weeks. Let’s grab the juice and cash a ticket.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Chicago Bears

Sunday, October 31, 2021 – 1:00 PM ET at Soldier Field, Chicago, IL

The betting public has short-term memories…very short. And that is why they routinely get slaughtered at the windows because they don’t take into account injuries, weather, and the fact that athletes have emotion and sometimes they’re up while other times they’re down.

And such will be the case this Sunday as Joe Q. Public lines up to fade the Bears because they were absolutely trounced last week by the Bucs, 35-3, and should have no business being in this league after a humiliating loss like that. Okay, lighten up, Francis.

The Bucs are the best team in the league unless the Cardinals, Bills, or Packers prove otherwise. It’s not surprising the moment was too big for Chicago but now they get a 49ers’ team that has lost four straight and can’t do much of anything right except run the ball…well…kind of.

Defensively there isn’t much separating these teams as the Niners allow 24.8 points per game while the Bears are a few notches above them, surrendering 23.1 PPG. Both run defenses are middling but both boast a top 10 pass defense. Offensively, both are meh, with San Francisco’s Garoppolo feeling the heat of Trey Lance breathing down his neck for the starting job while all the Bears can do is run the ball.

It’s a tossup here as the Bears are not as bad as they looked last week while the 49ers could very well lose their fifth straight. If it’s a coin flip, why not take the home team getting the juice? Oh, and by the way, make sure to be on the lookout for a BMR NFL Week 8 parlay, and don’t be surprised if Chicago is included!

Washington Football Team vs Denver Broncos

Sunday, October 31, 2021 – 4:25 PM ET at Empower Field at Mile High, Denver, CO

Is there a way both of these bums could lose? If you’re watching this game, you are either a huge fan of either team or you’ve got a vested interest because no one else will be watching this trash. But then again, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure as they say, so why not make good money betting on a bad game?

Denver won its first three games by beating the absolute dregs of the league in the Giants, Jaguars, and Jets. It is the holy trinity of football futility and the Broncos proved they’re at a different level. Higher, maybe, but just a step up from the basement to the mudroom. The Washington Football Team is not much different but at least they have a potentially explosive defense that has pretty much refused to fire this season.

Coin flip, grab the team with the juice.

Upset Alert: Washington +3 (-115) or +140 on the moneyline at YouWager
