NEW ORLEANS: The Saints had their three-game winning streak snapped last Sunday in a 31-21 loss to the 49ers. It was the first time that New Orleans lost in three weeks and it was also the first time they failed to cover over that same span. Drew Brees completed 26-of-41 passes for 267 yards with three touchdowns but was also intercepted twice in the game, which were both returned for touchdowns by San Francisco. The loss dropped the Saints to 5-6 on the year and 6-5 against the spread as they failed to cover as a 1-point home underdog. The over covered for the second time in their last three games and is now 7-4 in all New Orleans’ games this year.
ATLANTA: The Falcons beat the Buccaneers 24-23 to run their record to 10-1 on the season. Like much of the season, quarterback Matt Ryan was spectacular while completing 26-of-32 passes for 353 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Julio Jones also caught six passes for a career-high 147 yards and one 80-yard touchdown pass. Jacquizz Rodgers also provided a spark in the running game, as he rushed 10 times for 49 yards and a touchdown. The Falcons are now 6-4-1 against the spread after pushing as a 1-point favorite, although they haven’t cover the spread since a 19-13 win over the Cowboys four weeks ago. Ryan leads the team with 3,425 passing yards while Michael Turner has a team-high 595 rushing yards and seven total touchdowns.
ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Falcons are 3.5-point favorites versus the Saints, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 56 points. New Orleans enters the game with a 5-6 record overall and a 2-3 record on the road, while Atlanta is 10-1 overall and 5-0 at home.
TRENDS: The Saints are 4-0 against the spread in their last four games versus the Falcons, while the underdog is 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings. The over is also 7-3 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams.
