Giants vs. Panthers Odds
CHARLOTTE, NC (The Spread) – Two teams coming off huge wins will tangle on Thursday Night Football this week when the Panthers host the Giants at 8:20PM ET.
NEW YORK: Despite trailing for nearly the entire game, the Giants pulled off a miraculous comeback last Sunday when they beat the Buccaneers 41-34 as a 7-point favorite. Eli Manning completed 31-of-51 pass attempts for 510 yards and three touchdowns, although he also through three interceptions in the game and struggled early on. Hakeem Nicks (199 yards) and Victor Cruz (179 yards) both went over 100 yards receiving and Andre Brown rushed for 71 yards on 13 carries after Ahmad Bradshaw left the game with an injury. And speaking of injuries, Nicks won’t make the trip to Carolina due to a foot injury and has been listed as out for this week’s game.
CAROLINA: The Panthers got in the win column last Sunday when they knocked off NFC South rival New Orleans 35-27 as a 3-point home underdog. Cam Newton completed 14-of-20 passes for 253 yards an a touchdown while also rushing 13 times for 71 yards and a score. DeAngelo Williams chipped in 69 yards on 14 carries and one score, while Steve Smith caught three passes for 104 yards. Carolina improved to 1-1 with the win and is now 1-1 against the spread as well.
ODDS: According to odds makers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Panthers are 2.5-point favorites over the home Giants, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 52 points. And as of this writing, 54% of the betting public currently backs New York.
TRENDS: The over is 4-0 in the last four meetings between the Giants and Panthers, while the favorite is 5-2 against the spread in the last seven meetings between these two teams.
