Tennessee Titans DFS Spin
Starting Titans left guard Peter Skoronski missed last week’s game with an illness, and he’s officially listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Browns. The rookie from Northwestern will likely be replaced in the lineup by third-year man Dillon Radunz.
Tennessee running back Derrick Henry is dealing with a toe injury and he’s officially listed as questionable for Sunday’s game. Henry has 40 carries for 143 rushing yards and a touchdown this season. If he’s unable to play, Tennessee will likely turn to third-round rookie Tyjae Spears to get the bulk of the backfield work.
Titans wide receiver Deandre Hopkins was absent from practice Friday, and he’s listed as questionable for Sunday’s game with an ankle injury. Hopkins has 11 catches for 105 yards through 2 games this year.
Cleveland Browns DFS Spin
Cleveland running back Nick Chubb suffered a horrible meniscus injury in his team’s loss to Pittsburgh on Monday night, and he’ll miss the rest of the season. In his stead, the Browns will likely start second-year man Jerome Ford at running back. For depth, Cleveland also signed free agent running back Kareem Hunt who played for the Browns in each of the past four seasons.
Browns starting nickel back Greg Newsome will miss Sunday’s game with an elbow injury. Fifth-round rookie Cameron Mitchell will likely see snaps at that spot this weekend. Browns defensive end Za’Darius Smith is dealing with thigh and ankle injuries, rendering him questionable for Sunday’s contest. Smith has 3 total tackles, a tackle for loss, and a pass defended for the Browns this season.
Titans vs. Browns Betting Trends
Over the last 20 seasons, Tennessee is 25-12 ATS as an underdog in the first three weeks of the season.
Titans head coach Mike Vrabel is 23-9-1 ATS as an underdog when the spread is +3 or higher during the regular season.
After a straight-up win as an underdog, Tennessee head coach Mike Vrabel is 9-3 ATS when listed as an underdog the following week.
Titans vs. Browns Prediction:
Put simply, I’m not sold on Cleveland quarterback Deshaun Watson or the Browns as a whole. Cleveland beat Cincinnati 24-3 in Week 1, but the Bengals and Joe Burrow are notoriously slow starters, so I’m not sure how much to read into that win. Then the Browns lost a terrible game on the road at Pittsburgh Monday night 26-22 in which they turned the ball over four times and permitted two Steelers defensive touchdowns.
Tennessee on the other hand seems to always find a way to stay in games, even when it doesn’t make sense. The Titans narrowly lost to an above-average Saints team 16-15 in Week 1, then beat a 2022 playoff team in the Los Angeles Chargers 27-24 in Week 2. Titans head coach Mike Vrabel’s squad is second in the NFL in opponent yards per rushing attempt this season at 2.7, and Cleveland could struggle to run the ball with their star running back Nick Chubb out for the season. In a low-scoring affair, I like the Titans to keep it within a field goal.
