Brady favored to win NFL MVP Award
Heading into the final month of the regular season, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is the current favorite to win the MVP award in the NFL this year.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv currently list Brady as a 4/5 favorite to win this season’s MVP award. Cam Newton of the undefeated Panthers has the next best odds at 11/10, while Carson Palmer of the Cardinals is the current long shot at 12/1.
Despite injuries suffered by Dion Lewis, Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola and Rob Gronkowski, Brady is having his typical fantastic season. Through 11 games he’s thrown for 3,600 yards with 28 touchdown passes and just four interceptions. His average yards per attempt is 7.98, which is the highest mark since 2011.
If it’s not Brady, Newton and Palmer are certainly worthy candidates to win the MVP this season. Newton doesn’t have the passing numbers as some of his cohorts but he makes plays in a variety of ways and as previously mentioned, Carolina is the last remaining undefeated team in the NFL.
Palmer, meanwhile, has thrown for 3,337 yards with 27 touchdowns and nine interceptions through 11 games, and his YPA is currently 8.83, which is the best mark of his career. Like Brady in New England and Newton in Carolina, Palmer has Arizona playing like a legit Super Bowl contender.
