Brady favored to lead NFL in TD passes
Which quarterback will lead the NFL in touchdown passes this season? The current favorite is Patriots signal-caller Tom Brady.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv currently list Brady as a 1/2 favorite to throw more touchdown passes than any quarterback in the NFL this season. Cam Newton has the next best odds at 9/4, while Carson Palmer is 6/1 and Eli Manning has the longest odds at 10/1.
With only two regular season games left, Brady has thrown the most touchdown passes of any quarterback in the league with 35. Newton is right behind him with 33, while Palmer and Manning have thrown 32 touchdown passes apiece.
Brady has a decent matchup this Sunday against the Jets but then faces a Miami defense in Week 17 that hasn’t slowed many opposing quarterbacks this season. The question, however, is whether or not Brady will play much the final week of the season with the Patriots on the verge of earning homefield advantage throughout the playoffs. Perhaps he won’t get many opportunities to keep slinging touchdown passes beyond this week.
As for Newton, he already lit the Falcons up for three touchdown passes two weeks ago and gets Atlanta again on Sunday, then finishes up with another plus-matchup against Tampa Bay in Week 17. Newton faces the same dilemma as Brady, however, in that Ron Rivera may choose to rest starters for a half or so the final game of the season.
Palmer faces the Packers this Sunday but then has a difficult matchup against the Seahawks in Week 17, while Manning faces the Vikings and Eagles to round out his season. A drawback for Eli this Sunday is the fact that he won’t have leading receiver Odell Beckham, who was suspended one game this week due to his antics last Sunday during a loss to the Panthers.
