Brady’s four-game suspension upheld
FOXBORO, MA (The Spread) – The NFL decided to uphold Tom Brady’s four-game suspension for his role in “Deflategate,” but the Patriots’ 2016 Super Bowl odds remain unchanged.
Things could change over these next few days but New England remains 10/1 to win next year’s Super Bowl according to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv. The Patriots were 10/1 before the announcement that Brady’s suspension had been upheld, so with nothing changing (i.e. Brady was going to miss four games before the announcement and will still miss four games), it’s understandable that oddsmakers didn’t make adjustments to New England’s title odds.
The Patriots’ odds to win the AFC Conference Championship next season remain unchanged as well. New England was 9/2 to win a conference title before news of Brady’s suspension appeal broke, and the team remains 9/2 to win the AFC championship. The Pats are also still favored to win the AFC East Division at -150.
With Brady suspended, second-year quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is in line to start against the Steelers, Bills, Jaguars and Cowboys. Matt Flynn will serve as Garoppolo’s backup, at least heading into training camp.
