Updated NFL MVP Odds

Heading into Championship Sunday, Matt Ryan is a clear favorite to take home this season’s NFL MVP Award.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Ryan has odds of 1/9 to win the NFL MVP for the 2016-17 season, while Aaron Rodgers is 5/1. Tom Brady, meanwhile, is 9/1 while rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott is 25/1, and Derek Carr and Dak Prescott are 50/1, respectively. Le’Veon Bell has the longest odds at 66/1.

Ryan was incredible this season, completing 373-of-534 pass attempts for 4,944 yards with 38 touchdowns and seven interceptions. The touchdown passes were a career-high while the intereceptions were a career-low. His 117.1 QB rating was also the best of his career, as was his 9.26 yards-per-pass attempt. He led the Falcons to a NFC South crown and will attempt to led Atlanta to the Super Bowl with a win over the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday.

Rodgers, meanwhile, has been red-hot over his last five games. He’s thrown for 1,617 passing yards with a 66.49 completion percentage and a 14-to-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio. He was excellent in the regular season as well, throwing for 4,428 yards with 40 touchdowns and just seven interceptions.

Brady threw for 3,554 yards with 28 touchdowns and two interceptions, which was incredible, but the knock on Patriots’ quarterback is that he didn’t play an entire season. He was suspended for the first four games of the season because of the “Deflategate” situation, which is seemingly be held against him. With Ryan and Rodgers playing a full 16-game season, it’ll be difficult for Brady to win his third MVP trophy of his career.
